The Pencil Toppers That Are Squishies

!: The Pencil Toppers That Are Squishies

Kids would die for toys. They get attracted to every colorful barbie doll, robot, car, stuffed animal and all those in the toy stores. Kiddos cry and get tantrums if they can't get that little action figure or that dancing doll with porcelain yet scary eyes. Children love these colorful mini playthings and they do silly ideas on these cute and cuddly beings, which adults find funny.

Grown-ups may not realize it, but like fashion, gadgets and cars, some toys become 'in' and some just fall out of trend. The the 'in' things among kids right now are actually very simple and unsophisticated. They are the pencil toppers called squishies, animals from zoo mania, sea mania and jungle mania.

So what exactly are squishies? Basically they are just soft rubber pencil toppers shaped like animals. But kids don't brag to their playmates about how cool their writing instrument is, much less boast about their homeworks. No, the young 'uns collect and play with them. There are so many squishies, as there many creatures on Earth.

Squishies look like the cuter versions of the animals we see at Nat Geo, of different sizes and colors. Even scary jungle dudes like the lion and frog are made friendly-looking. Some really look weird people don't know what are they called or the planet these beings came from. They are so little, about 1 to 2 inches, and absolutely adorable even adults can't resist. Pokemon fans might find some resemblance with these squishies from earthly animal kingdom and the monsters from out-of-this world (strangely, squishie makers' tagline is 'catch them all!').

But kids don't put them on their pens, because they play with them instead. So squishies are more of toys than pencil toppers. Usual kid stuff where they make a drama out of these barnyard animals. The older kiddos keep them in their pockets thinking they're the coolest guy/gal in grade school because they've got Octie the Octopus, C.C. the Seahorse, William the Whale, Cleo the Clownfish and Danny Dolphin.

Like most miniature toys and pencil toppers, squishies can be also bought in vending machines. They come in capsules individually, for 40 cents. Most kiddos spend the whole quarters in their pockets, feeling lucky and hoping to get some rare ones. But as some squishies are hard to find, they most likely not be found in vending machines. Squishies can also be bought through online shopping. These stores sell them individually and in packages: a set of 25 for 12 dollars, or a set of 50 rares for 64 dollars. Some online stores like www.squishiesandmore.com, or at other shopping websites Ebay and Amazon.com. These stores also sell crazy bands/silly bands, another kiddie trend nowadays. Aside from cuddly little playthings, squishies are also good as gifts for any occasion. They can be souvenirs for family gatherings and weddings, or giveaways for children or adult birthday parties. The young and the young at heart will still find these rubber animals cute and adorable.
